Its funny that when you look deeper, you discover what you don't know. I've seen large flocks of robins roosting in a tree as they migrate through. But I've never researched where they might be traveling from. One assumes "north" but that covers a lot of territory from here.

Thanks, Arija. Bird size difference from area to area is interesting. The camera's eyesight is one of the joys of having it as a companion!Vickiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301484477954719161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2010921422659089253.post-48005289532446944552008-11-28T04:55:00.000-05:002008-11-28T04:55:00.000-05:00Vickie, what a lovely robin. Our robins are a little bigger than your coal tits.
My eyesight has lost it's precision, so I snap first and identify later. It helps to know the call when going for a specific bird though.
Thanks for stopping by and giving me a pointer about the importance of plumage.Arijahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03720793296992474762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2010921422659089253.post-68406969438455299222008-11-27T23:51:00.000-05:002008-11-27T23:51:00.000-05:00Not all our robins go south. It is great to see them up close with a camera and even better when you get a chance to help band them.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00021360855817039262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2010921422659089253.post-31638093987547055362008-11-27T21:23:00.000-05:002008-11-27T21:23:00.000-05:00yeah...'i'll be glad when those snowbirds go home!...yeah...'i'll be glad when those snowbirds go home!' lol i never realized that about the robin's crown before...very interesting.ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15065280453944802698noreply@blogger.com
