Nostalgic Saturday

I couldn't resist Abby's Nostalgic Saturday invitation and am posting it early because its already Saturday in Australia. So here are a few old photos of favorite places and people. Images that go deep to early beginnings for so many things. So thanks Abby for the fun idea. The timing couldn't be better. That's me on the right clinging to my sister and my Dad feeding the orphan piglets.
My two early best friends. Me (left) and my sister on our pony, Cutie. I learned to ride at age five on this pony. When I fell off, my feelings were hurt and I didn't want to ride anymore. Knowing I was okay, my dad just laughed and said, "get back on" and I did, but only after he agreed he wouldn't make her trot this time. Me on the right with my sister. The tomboy in us is smiling through the frills.

  1. My favourites the piglet one.. Could me my grandfather on our farm, especially with the cigarette dangling from his lip.. how similar our experience for two a world apart...

Love the pony photo, you look like Annie Oakly sitting up there...I love your shoes and dresses in the last one, were you going somewhere special?

Thanks for joining in, we've only just started Nostalgic Saturday but everyone seems to have many memories to share...Love Abz

  3. I think the pony photo is my favorite - two smiles poking out made me smile too :-)

  4. Thank you, Abby, Janice and Mountain girl!
I have so many wonderful memories of growing up on the farm.

Abby, you mentioned your grandfather. Our farm belonged to my grandparents...;) and we all lived there together. Such a small world! My guess on the occasion in the last photo, is its Sunday and maybe a holiday and we have been out to dinner with my grandparents.

The piglet photo makes me laugh because of the interaction and reminds me of how much I later loved following my dad around and watching whatever he was doing. The fun pony photo became a photo Christmas card.
    Fun, wistful memories...;)
